Hartland Pony Pair Spyder at World Championship
For
HDT dressage and Cone driving
Their
short coupling helps when driving cones on angles. The passenger seats are
designed to split so that the drivers seat may be moved into the middle of
the carriage for cone driving if desired.
Other options:
We offer spyders with delayed steering, which may be permanently on, OR
switch able on or off.
Turntable brakes. Available
operated by a wheel on the rear of the carriage, OR (AND NOW MOST POPULAR)
a foot pedal next to the brake(s) pedal(s).
This can assist with a slightly straighter rein back - always
helpful in dressage!
Grooms
rear seat. Available with or without backrests.
A single or double seat, with the necessary mounting steps can be
provided.
Spares
drawers - whilst most of our spyder come fitted with a spares compartment
under the seat, which can be accessed from the front or rear of the
carriage, some drivers also like a small drawer which can be neatly placed
under the floor below the grooms feet.
Axle
widths. Usually axles are set
at 138, 148 or 158 (team width) cms.
We can build the carriages with narrower front axles and also
extending rear axles. Therefore
it is possible to carriages that extend to more than one rear axle width.

These beautiful phaeton are now available with axles set at 148cms (horse
pair) or 158cms (horse team) BUT can be supplied at 148cms wide with front
and rear axles extending to 158cms, so can be used for both purposes.
They can also be built for pony pairs and teams with axles set at 138cms.
